Rosehip Seed Oil Skin Care Benefits for Men

While rosehip seed oil has long been a natural beauty staple for women, men have yet to widely adopt and experience its remarkable skin care benefits.  There is no reason men can’t implement rosehip seed oil into their grooming routines.  Rosehip seed oil is packed with essential fatty acids, including omega-6 and omega-3, as well as pro-vitamin A, all of which contribute to smoother, healthier skin.  Here are three simple ways guys can use rosehip seed oil to achieve a better complexion:

  1. Rosehip Seed Oil as an Aftershave
    Once you’re done shaving, rinse and pat dry your face.  Next, rub a couple drops of rosehip seed oil between your fingertips and palms and gently apply to your cheeks, chin, neck, and area around your mouth.
  2. Rosehip Seed Oil as a Daytime Moisturizer
    Rosehip seed oil will keep your skin properly moisturized throughout the day when applied every morning.  After every face wash, simply rub a couple drops between the fingertips and palms and gently apply to all areas of the face, paying particular attention to areas susceptible to fine lines and creases.
  3. Rosehip Seed Oil as a Nighttime Moisturizer/Anti-Aging Serum
    When used every night before bedtime, rosehip seed oil produces a noticeable improvement in facial complexion and skin tone.  Wash your face very night with water or a mild cleanser to get rid dirt and debris accumulated throughout the day. Next, rub a couple drops between the fingertips and palms and gently apply to all areas of the face and neck. Don’t forget to moisturize your forehead as well.  Follow these steps and you will wake up flake-free with a confident glow.

Adopting rosehip seed oil into your daily skin care routine might take a little time to get used to, but the results are undoubtedly worth it.  If you’re constantly battling a dry face and uneven complexion, maybe it’s time you consider ditching what you’re using as a moisturizer and experience the natural skin care wonder that is rosehip seed oil.  May this bit of advice help you achieve greater confidence.  Cheers!

Create your own reality distortion field.

Still looking for a Halloween costume?  Don’t fret.  Pay tribute to Steve Jobs by stealing his style.  It’s a look most people will immediately recognize.  Looking like the father of Apple is an affordable, straightforward process that involves three easy steps: 1) getting the right haircut, 2) proper beard trimming, and 3) finding the right wardrobe.

Step 1: Getting the Right Haircut
Ask your barber to use a “#8” all around (sides, back, and top) with no to very little tapering.  Style using Aveda’s Control Paste – this will give your hair a clean, effortless look.  Work a small amount into your palms and fingertips then apply using a gentle gliding motion to keep stray and flyaway hair in check.

Step 2: Trimming your Beard Properly
Keep your facial hair sleek and clean.  Use an attachment (usually it’s a #2) with your beard trimmer that will leave you with a 1/4″ facial hair length.  Your beard should start just below the cheek bone (from the top) and end about 3/4″ above the center of your adam’s apple (no pun intended).  After trimming your beard, moisturize your beard and skin with Beta Naturals 100% Pure Argan Oil Moisturizer – an effective, all-natural cruelty-free (Steve would approve) product to soothe your skin and soften your beard.

Step 3: Wear the Right Clothes and Accessories
Unless you’re a purist, you can pull off the Steve Jobs look without having to dip into your savings.  With the economy being so unstable, there’s no need to buy a $185 black mock turtleneck from St. Croix.  Instead, I suggest picking up a similar top from JC Penney or Sears for around $20.  For the pants, break out a pair of stonewash “dad” jeans or Levi’s 501 (Steve’s choice).  To complete the wardrobe, put on a pair of New Balance 991 running shoes or comparable 1980s-looking sneakers.  Accessorize with round eyeglasses (rimless preferred) and an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.

Step 4 (optional): Have Fun
Nonchalantly browse an Apple store, solicit photographs outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, or start a Steve Jobs flash mob.

An evening skin care routine doesn’t require a lot of work.  In fact, it’s an easy two-step process that takes less than five minutes to complete.  Here’s a brief breakdown of what to do every night to improve your complexion and boost your confidence:

  • Step 1:  Use a gentle face wash.
  • Step 2:  Apply a non-SPF face moisturizer.
By incorporating this routine into your evenings before bed, you should notice an improvement in your appearance. Try to use products with little or no fragrance as synthetic scents can irritate the skin.  Also, avoid face washes that contain sulfates.

As someone who is developing a business, I appreciate other emerging business owners who focus on being environmentally-responsible.  One such company is Soap Deluxe, a maker of  natural, cruelty-free handmade soaps based in the United Kingdom.  I met Soap Deluxe’s founder, Philip Woolley, by chance through YouTube.  Philip contacted me one day about one of my videos, “Bar Soap vs. Face or Body Wash – Which One is Better?”  In this video, I tout the advantages of using liquid body washes without really considering the benefits of bar soaps.  With Phillip’s help, I now realize I was generalizing when I spoke about both body washes and bar soaps in the video.  Not all body washes and bar soaps are made the same.  Many commercially-made big brand liquid cleansers and bar soaps contain chemicals that can over-dry and irritate your skin.  What I should have said in the video was pay close attention to the ingredients of the body washes and bar soaps you purchase.  Stick to products with more natural ingredients whenever possible.  Your skin will benefit from it.

Combating acne can be an agonizing experience.  We prick and pinch blemishes only to realize such actions only worsen the situation – infection and scarring are common results.  There are so many acne treatment options available, but few of them actually seem to work.  When I was a foolish teenager, I used alcohol astringents to dry out my skin – not a smart move.  By drying out my skin, these products actually increased oil production, which led to even more pimples.  It wasn’t until I discovered and starting using skincare products with salicylic acid or willow bark that I began to see a noticeable change in my complexion.  Products with salicylic acid are readily available at your local drugstore.  Simply go to the acne-treatment aisle and look for lotions, gels, and washes with this effective ingredient – Neutrogena and Clean and Clear are just two easy-to-find brands that feature salicylic acid.  I prefer to use more natural products and have experienced positive results using the face wash and moisturizer from the Burt’s Bees Natural Acne Solutions line.  These products contain salicylic acid derived from willow bark.  With regular use day and night, I have maintained a clear complexion when using the gel cleanser and daily moisturizing lotion.  Whatever you do, remember to avoid products that contain alcohol.
