Welcome to Caulfield’s Counter. I’ve opened up my toiletry counter to the world in hopes of helping you select the right skin care products. Every person requires a different product depending on his or her skin type and preference. I’ve been obsessed with skin care ever since I purchased my first bottle of Aqua Velva aftershave at age 10 despite not being able to shave. I’m just your average guy constantly searching for great skin care products and sharing my findings with you. I regularly test a variety of offerings including lotions, aftershaves, body washes & soaps, shaving creams, and deodorants – items men normally use. I am not paid for my reviews. This is something I simply enjoy doing. The reviews are honest – I discuss what I like and do not like about the products to help you make the right purchases. Please visit often for the latest news and reviews on skin care from a male perspective.
Look good, get some.

Thanks Vadim! I love that Caulfield’s Counter has global appeal!
I notice that you mostly review “high-end” facial products. Thats cool and all, but realistically most of the times they are not better than stuff you can find at the drug store. I’m currently using Menscience Daily Face Wash and its ok. I don’t think its worth the price tag. I am tired of shelling out big bucks for face wash for mediocre results (kiehls, anthony, men science, etc.) and I am looking at Neutrogena Skin Clearing face wash for men. I was wondering if you can review this product as well as Menscience Daily Face Wash
Hi Chris,
Thanks for the message. I agree with you to a certain degree. Ultimately it’s up to the individual to figure out which product(s) works best on his/her skin. Sometimes it’s the drug store brand and other times it’s the higher-end product that does the trick. Always check the ingredients list to see exactly what it is you’re getting in every product. I will look into the products you mentioned.
Cheers!
I really like your practical advice, thanks. Curious to know what your morning routine is and what products/brands you use? Cleaner, Toner, Shave, Aftershave/Balm Lotion, SPF. I have sensitive skin that sometimes gets dry/flaky and blotchy and it just seems like it may not be the best for me. I was thinking a cleanser (Bull Dog), Shave (King of Shaves Alphagel), After Shave (Burt’s Bees), then SPF Lotion (Every Man Jack Frag Free SPF 15)…what do you think?
Thanks, Sam! I try to keep my daily routine simple: wash with a gentle cleanser, shave with a no-to-low foam cream, and finish off with a moisturizer (I’ll use one with SPF if going out during the day). Your proposed routine sounds like a great way to start. Kiss My Face also makes an awesome shave cream – try cool mint if you want something that gently tingles. Let me know how it works out for you. Happy new year!
Your videos are incredibly helpful! I do have a question if you don’t mind helping me out? I bought a new three headed norelco shaver and shaved too closely and got a bunch of ingrown hairs (and irritation). What products do you think I should buy, and how do you think I should go about fixing this problem? I’ve always had bad skin and have never had someone to recommend products to me or help me in the ways of the face care product purchasing.. Thanks!
Hi Mike,
Glad you find the videos beneficial! I suggest complementing your shaving routine with a pre-shave oil. It will help the shaver glide easier across the skin’s surface, thus causing less irritation. Try this and keep me posted on your progress.
Thanks for visiting!
I came across your videos yesterday for the first time on Youtube. Thanks alot for the advice and lengths you go to, to keep us informed!! I do have a question if you don’t mind answering? Of all the eye creams you have tried, which one worked best for puffiness? Would love to know, thanks!! 🙂
Hi Shawn,
Thanks for the kind words. Glad to help dudes improve their skin and gain confidence.
I recommend trying Origins GinZing eye cream for puffiness and dark circles.
Let me know how it works out for you.
Cheers!
Hi Jerome. Could you do a review on “Burts Bees Baby Bee Buttermilk lotion for sensitive skin of all ages?” Or at least talk about the uses of a body cream for men/ natural body acne solutions? Thanks! I haven’t found info for guys about that yet
Hi Jerome! I was wondering if you could do a review of “Burt’s Bees Baby Buttermilk lotion for sensitive skin of all ages” or if you could just talk about the benefits of a body cream for men or natural solutions to body acne. I haven’t seen a man’s perspective on this and would appreciate the video! Thanks!
Hello, Jerome. I stumbled across a few of your YouTube reviews in doing some product comparisons; I appreciate you taking the time to do all of these reviews.
However, with so many reviews, I managed to get a little lost; where’s the best place to get started?
Also, do you have any recommendations/reviews for antibacterial products that can be used after hitting the gym (that won’t dry out skin)?
Thanks again for helping a bro out.
Hi Alexander,
Glad you found Caulfield’s Counter. I’m happy to help you with any questions regarding skin care. A great brand for you to start with is Super Body Care. You can find them at http://www.superbodycare.com/ – Super Body Care products use natural ingredients battle fungus. They smell great and they’re gentler on the skin. Try them out. I think you’ll like them. Hope this helps.
Thanks for stopping by!

Hi there,
Thank’s for serving as a human guinea pig!
I use Kielhs cleanser, scrub, and shave cream as well as eye alert but am a little worried about the parabens thing, should I switch to something like bulldog?
I also use anthony logistics astringent toner pads which I would be interested to see you review.
Only problem I can’t sort out is dark circles under eyes. Any word?
Thanks for your time.
Thanks for visiting, Al! I’m glad to hear you’re becoming more conscious about the ingredients in your skin care products. Going more natural is always a good option. I recommend trying different natural products out – Bulldog and Beta Naturals (my company) are great brands to start with. If they work well with your skin, then you’ve improved your routine with healthier products.
Dark circles are difficult to eliminate, but you can minimize their appearance. Origins Ginzing Eye Cream has impressed me the most in this area.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. Cheers!
Thanks for the posts, appreciate it since I’m not too good at asking the salespeople in the store. Youtube clips are my ideal way to learn more about skincare
Glad to help, Tom. Thanks for supporting Caulfield’s Counter!
Thank you for your time! Because of your videos, I just purchased the Bulldog Natural Skincare line and I am extremely satisfied! I was using the Clinique Men line for about 5 months, and it worked great but it was way overly priced. The Bulldog line is great and is very reasonably priced. My only concern is, the Bulldog moisturizer DOES NOT have any SPF. Is there a light SPF creme (not overly priced) you recommend that I can mix with the Bulldog moisturizer so I get some SPF? Thank you. Also, a review of the Mens Clinique Line would be great! I’m curious to see how good it actually is for your skin…
Hi Jayson,
I’m glad to hear the Bulldog line of products has worked out for you. For a reasonably priced SPF face moisturizer, I suggest trying Every Man Jack Face Lotion SPF 15. It works well and costs less than ten dollars. If you find it too heavy, try Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Moisturizer for Men SPF 15 – priced higher, but is an effective light face moisturizer with SPF. Hope this helps. Thanks!
Hey there,
I was looking for few products that I can use for pre-shave, shaving and post shave. There are few brands like Nivea, Loreal and Bulldog in my local supermarket. As there are too many to choose from, I needed help to chose the best face wash, shaving gel, after shave and a moisturiser from these brands. Your help would be most appreciated.
Thanks :).
Hi Tonny,
Thanks for visiting. I know hard it can be to choose between so many products. For face wash, after shave, and shaving gel, I highly recommend the Bulldog products. They smell great and they’re gentle on your skin. For a moisturizer with sun protection, I suggest trying Every Man Jack. If you want a great pre-shave oil and moisturizer, try using Beta Naturals (my brand) all-in-one clean shave oil and moisturizer. Hope this helps!
Cheers,
JD
