Anthony Logistics for Men After Shave Balm Ingredients List

Overall Rating: ★★★★
Price: $$$ ($20-$30) – Available at Anthony Logistics for Men, Ulta, and Sephora.
Scent: Light peppermint and eucalyptus.
I Like: how the product soothes/cools the skin post-shave and the light peppermint fragrance.
Not a fan of: the paraben preservatives.

Anthony Logistics for Men After Shave Balm is a fantastic light facial moisturizer made specifically to relieve razor burn and other types of post-shave irritation.  In addition to containing aloe and skin-nourishing vitamins, this balm uses allantoin and benzocaine to soothe freshly-shaved skin.  Despite the label stating that it’s “fragrance free,” there is a slight peppermint and eucalyptus scent  – similar to that of Noxzema’s Original Deep Cleansing Cream.  Overall, Anthony Logistics for Men After Shave Balm effectively moisturizes and soothes your skin without leaving behind a greasy film.  Final verdict: try it.

How to Look Like Steve Jobs Caulfields Counter Commencement Speech Mac iPhone iPad iPad Job men's grooming St. Croix mock turtleneck New Balance 991 sneakers

Create your own reality distortion field.

Still looking for a Halloween costume?  Don’t fret.  Pay tribute to Steve Jobs by stealing his style.  It’s a look most people will immediately recognize.  Looking like the father of Apple is an affordable, straightforward process that involves three easy steps: 1) getting the right haircut, 2) proper beard trimming, and 3) finding the right wardrobe.

Step 1: Getting the Right Haircut
Ask your barber to use a “#8” all around (sides, back, and top) with no to very little tapering.  Style using Aveda’s Control Paste – this will give your hair a clean, effortless look.  Work a small amount into your palms and fingertips then apply using a gentle gliding motion to keep stray and flyaway hair in check.

Step 2: Trimming your Beard Properly
Keep your facial hair sleek and clean.  Use an attachment (usually it’s a #2) with your beard trimmer that will leave you with a 1/4″ facial hair length.  Your beard should start just below the cheek bone (from the top) and end about 3/4″ above the center of your adam’s apple (no pun intended).  After trimming your beard, moisturize your beard and skin with Beta Naturals 100% Pure Argan Oil Moisturizer – an effective, all-natural cruelty-free (Steve would approve) product to soothe your skin and soften your beard.

Step 3: Wear the Right Clothes and Accessories
Unless you’re a purist, you can pull off the Steve Jobs look without having to dip into your savings.  With the economy being so unstable, there’s no need to buy a $185 black mock turtleneck from St. Croix.  Instead, I suggest picking up a similar top from JC Penney or Sears for around $20.  For the pants, break out a pair of stonewash “dad” jeans or Levi’s 501 (Steve’s choice).  To complete the wardrobe, put on a pair of New Balance 991 running shoes or comparable 1980s-looking sneakers.  Accessorize with round eyeglasses (rimless preferred) and an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.

Step 4 (optional): Have Fun
Nonchalantly browse an Apple store, solicit photographs outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, or start a Steve Jobs flash mob.

L'Occitane CADE After Shave Balm Men Review Caulfields Counter Grooming Male Skin Care Soothing Razor Burn Irritation

L'Occitane Cade After Shave Balm

L'Occitane CADE After Shave Balm Men Ingredients Caulfields Counter Grooming Razor Burn Soothing Irritation

L'Occitane Cade After Shave Balm Ingredients List

Overall Rating:
Price: $$$ ($30) – Available at Nordstrom, Amazon, and L’Occitane.
Scent: Woodsy blend of juniper, sandalwood, and birch.
I Liked: how well this product worked as a moisturizer.  The balm effectively soothed my skin and provided relief from razor burn.
Not a fan of: the potency of the scent.  I would like this product even more if the scent was less obvious.

L’Occitane’s Cade After Shave Balm is more like a face cream.  Its texture is very thick, which makes it better suited as a fall/winter moisturizer.  At $30 for a 2.5 ounce tube, this balm is relatively expensive.  However, a little of it goes a long way.  You should be able to get at least  four months of use out of one tube.  I enjoyed the scent despite how strong it was.  The fragrance is a blend of juniper, sandalwood, and birch with a hint of baby powder – it sounds like an odd combination but those scents somehow work well together.  Try it if you have dry skin or constantly suffer from razor burn.

Zirh Erase Aftershave Relief Tonic Ingredients List

Overall Rating: ★★★★☆
Price: $$$$ ($30-$40) – Available at ZirhBeauty.com, Beautybar.com, and Amazon.
Scent: Subtle classic barbershop aftershave smell with a hint of citrus mixed in.
I Like: how the tonic soothes razor burn. Made from witch hazel, not alcohol. Pleasant masculine fragrance.
Not a fan of: the price. I’m accustomed to paying more for moisturizers, not toners.

Zirh’s Erase Aftershave Relief Tonic is one the few post-shave splashes I can recommend as it does not contain alcohol.  The calendula and chamomile ingredients are effective at soothing razor burn.  I’m not so sure about how well Zirh Erase works to treat razor bumps and ingrown hair.  It comes in a masculine-looking bottle – the dispenser has a small hole, which allows you to use the tonic sparingly.  One bottle should last you about 3-4 months with normal use.  This product does not moisturize so you’ll need to complement it with a face lotion.

Buy this product while you still can.  The Zirh brand is going away soon 😦

Every Man Jack Fragrance Free Shave Cream Ingredients List

Overall Rating: ★★★★
Price: $ (under $10) – Available at Target, Every Man Jack, Drugstore.com, and Walgreens.com.
Scent: Fragrance free.
I Liked: the thick consistency, which made for a smooth, comfortable shave.  The unscented cream is especially ideal for those with sensitive skin.  Paraben-free, SLS-free, and not tested on animals.
Not a fan of: nothing.  However, please note that this is a low-foaming shave cream – it does not lather up well with a shave brush.

Every Man Jack’s Fragrance Free Shave Cream is an effective, no frills shaving product with a conscience.  It’s fragrance free and doesn’t contain a lot of the unnecessary synthetic ingredients that can irritate sensitive skin.  The cream’s thick texture allows for a close, comfortable shave.  This shave cream is low-lathering, which is a good thing.  Chances are that if you’re using a cream that lathers up well, it’s probably drying up your skin.  At under ten dollars, Every Man Jack Fragrance Free is one of the best shave cream values available.
