Hugo Naturals All Over Face & Body Lotion - Energizing Grapefruit Ingredients List

Overall Rating: ★★★★
Price: $ (under $10) – Available at Hugo Naturals, Drugstore.com, and Amazon.
Scent: Honeysuckle and grapefruit – similar to bubblegum.
I like: how natural and versatile (for face and body)  the lotion is.
Not a fan of: nothing.  This is a great all-around moisturizer.  I look forward to trying some of Hugo’s other products.

Hugo Naturals is a natural skin care brand known for its great smelling products.  Their Energizing Grapefruit All Over Face & Body Lotion is ideal for those who want to keep an uncluttered vanity counter.  I feel comfortable using this product on my face as well as my body because of how natural it is – they keep the synthetic “filler” ingredients to a minimum.  Upon opening the bottle, you will notice a sweet, almost bubblegum-like aroma – I attribute the sweetness to a blend of grapefruit and honeysuckle extracts.  This lotion contains a number of ingredients that benefit the skin including willow bark, shea butter, olive oil, aloe, and chamomile.  If you’re looking for a versatile moisturizer to use on the face and body and don’t mind the sweet smell of honeysuckle, I suggest trying Hugo Naturals Energizing Grapefruit All Over Face & Body Lotion.

Kiehl's Amino Acid Shampoo Ingredients List

Overall Rating: ★★★★
Price: $$$ ($20-$30) – Available at Kiehl’s and Nordstrom.
Scent: Mild coconut.
I Like: the subtle coconut fragrance. This product effectively cleans hair without stripping it of vital oils.
Not a fan of: the paraben preservatives.

Kiehl’s Amino Acid Shampoo is a great-smelling all-around hair wash.  The mild coconut scent makes washing hair fun and relaxing – I close my eyes and imagine being on a tropical island every time I shampoo with this stuff.  This product lathers up well and gently cleans hair without stripping it of essential oils.   I recommend this trying this shampoo especially if you have normal to oily hair.

Overall Rating: ★★★★
Price: $ (under $10) – Available at The Vitamin Shoppe and Amazon.
Scent: Fresh blend of lemon, eucalyptus, and sage.
I like: how natural the product is.  This versatile lotion absorbs easily into the skin.
Not a fan of: nothing really.  The scent is a bit too lemony for my taste.  However, the smell quickly fades away.

Prior to a recent chance visit to my local Vitamin Shoppe, I had never heard of The Organic Bath Company’s Mountain Sage Face & Body Moisturizer for Men.  The product’s packaging is nothing to write home about.  Let’s be honest – it’s pretty ugly.  What convinced me to purchase this moisturizer was what the product didn’t have: sulfates, parabens, artificial scents, petroleum by-products, and a high price tag.  Nowhere else could I find such a large-sized (14.2 fluid ounces) natural face and body moisturizer for men for under eight dollars.  I like the lotion’s versatility – it really is effective at moisturizing both the face and body.  The lotion’s jojoba oil content nourishes without making your skin feel greasy.  The lemon scent may take some getting used to, but it’s a small price to pay for using such a natural, effective moisturizer.

Anthony Logistics for Men Sun Stick SPF 15

Active Ingredients: Octinoxate 6.5% (sunscreen), Avobenzone 2.5% (sunscreen)
Inactive Ingredients: Petrolatum, Carthamus Tinctorius Seed Oil (safflower), Paraffin, Beeswax (cera alba), Copernicia Cerifera Wax (carnauba), Steareth-2, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

Overall Rating: ★★★★
Price: $$ ($10-$20) – Was available at Beauty.com, Zappos, and Dermstore (discontinued).
Scent: Fragrance Free
I Like: the sun and wind protection this product provides. Keeps lips and area around the eyes properly nourished.
Not a fan of: the petroleum and paraben preservative ingredients.

Whether you’re hitting the slopes or the surf, Anthony Logistics for Men’s Sun Stick SPF 15 is a reliable companion.  Use it on the lips and the area around the eyes to keep them from getting burned.  Because the sun protection factor on this product is relatively low, you’ll need to reapply it at least once every 1-2 hours.  The size of the stick is large (0.6 ounces) compared to traditional lip balms (0.15 ounces) and therefore harder to lose.  Use it to avoid the dreadful face burn the next time you’re exposed to the sun for a prolonged period of time.

Scent: Light menthol with a hint of citrus.
I Like: how light the moisturizer feels.  The cooling effect helps to wake me up.
Not a fan of: the paraben preservatives.

Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Energizing Moisture Treatment for Men effectively moisturizes your face without making it feel overly greasy.  I enjoy how the lotion feels slightly cool – perfect for the mornings or any time I need a recharge.  It contains caffeine, which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties – great for soothing razor burn.  Because this product doesn’t provide sun protection, it’s more ideal for use indoors or at night.  Sun worshippers needn’t worry – Kiehl’s also makes a sunscreen version of this moisturizer with a sun protection factor of 15.

Overall Rating: ★★★★
Price: $$$ ($20-$30) – Available at Anthony Logistics for Men, Ulta, and Sephora.
Scent: Light peppermint and eucalyptus.
I Like: how the product soothes/cools the skin post-shave and the light peppermint fragrance.
Not a fan of: the paraben preservatives.

Anthony Logistics for Men After Shave Balm is a fantastic light facial moisturizer made specifically to relieve razor burn and other types of post-shave irritation.  In addition to containing aloe and skin-nourishing vitamins, this balm uses allantoin and benzocaine to soothe freshly-shaved skin.  Despite the label stating that it’s “fragrance free,” there is a slight peppermint and eucalyptus scent  – similar to that of Noxzema’s Original Deep Cleansing Cream.  Overall, Anthony Logistics for Men After Shave Balm effectively moisturizes and soothes your skin without leaving behind a greasy film.  Final verdict: try it.

How to Look Like Steve Jobs

How to Look Like Steve Jobs Caulfields Counter Commencement Speech Mac iPhone iPad iPad Job men's grooming St. Croix mock turtleneck New Balance 991 sneakers

Create your own reality distortion field.

Still looking for a Halloween costume?  Don’t fret.  Pay tribute to Steve Jobs by stealing his style.  It’s a look most people will immediately recognize.  Looking like the father of Apple is an affordable, straightforward process that involves three easy steps: 1) getting the right haircut, 2) proper beard trimming, and 3) finding the right wardrobe.

Step 1: Getting the Right Haircut
Ask your barber to use a “#8” all around (sides, back, and top) with no to very little tapering.  Style using Aveda’s Control Paste – this will give your hair a clean, effortless look.  Work a small amount into your palms and fingertips then apply using a gentle gliding motion to keep stray and flyaway hair in check.

Step 2: Trimming your Beard Properly
Keep your facial hair sleek and clean.  Use an attachment (usually it’s a #2) with your beard trimmer that will leave you with a 1/4″ facial hair length.  Your beard should start just below the cheek bone (from the top) and end about 3/4″ above the center of your adam’s apple (no pun intended).  After trimming your beard, moisturize your beard and skin with Beta Naturals 100% Pure Argan Oil Moisturizer – an effective, all-natural cruelty-free (Steve would approve) product to soothe your skin and soften your beard.

Step 3: Wear the Right Clothes and Accessories
Unless you’re a purist, you can pull off the Steve Jobs look without having to dip into your savings.  With the economy being so unstable, there’s no need to buy a $185 black mock turtleneck from St. Croix.  Instead, I suggest picking up a similar top from JC Penney or Sears for around $20.  For the pants, break out a pair of stonewash “dad” jeans or Levi’s 501 (Steve’s choice).  To complete the wardrobe, put on a pair of New Balance 991 running shoes or comparable 1980s-looking sneakers.  Accessorize with round eyeglasses (rimless preferred) and an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.

Step 4 (optional): Have Fun
Nonchalantly browse an Apple store, solicit photographs outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, or start a Steve Jobs flash mob.
