Lab Series Max LS Instant Eye Lift Tube with Pump Dispenser

Overall Rating: ★★★★
Price: $$$$$ ($40-$50) – Available at Lab Series, Macy’s, and Sephora.
Scent: None
I liked: how it tightened the area around my eyes and made my dark circles less noticeable.
I didn’t like: the pump dispenser.

The MAX LS Instant Eye Lift by Lab Series is a great eye cream specifically targeted at men.  It is very light in texture and fragrance-free.   What I noticed first when using this product was how effective it was at lightening the dark circles around my eyes – note: the effect was temporary but much appreciated nonetheless.  In addition to providing a slight tingling sensation to awaken my eyes, this cream tightened the skin which made my crows feet a little less noticeable.  It did a fairly good job at minimizing eye puffiness.  Standout ingredients include: cucumber, caffeine, algae, sweet almond, green tea, aloe, and vitamin E.  Some may appreciate the unique pump dispenser – I, however, was not a big fan of it.  I worry that when I get to the end of the tube I’ll have to cut it open to dispense the remaining amount.  If you have the cash to spend on a higher-end eye cream that works well at treating dark circles, lines, and puffiness around the eyes, Lab Series Max LS Instant Eye Lift is a candidate worth considering.

Price: $$$ ($20-$30) – Available at Origins and Macy’s.
Scent: Undetectable.
I liked: that the eye cream was effective at lightening dark circles and decreasing puffiness around the eyes.  Its thick texture helped to keep the area around my eyes moisturized.
I didn’t like: the initial invigorating sensation.  It almost does too good a job at “waking” your eyes up.

Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream is a great non-gender specific moisturizer that effectively lightens dark circles and  decreases puffiness around the eyes.  It contains panax ginseng, caffeine from coffee, and “natural optic brighteners” to revive tired-looking eyes.  Be careful not to apply too much of this eye cream at once.  My eyes initially watered because I used a generous amount of the product around the eyes – they felt way too invigorated (perhaps too much of a good thing?).  At .5 ounces, a jar of Origins Ginzing eye cream is easy to carry around and will come in handy on mornings after those fun but rough nights.

40 Carrots Carrot + Cucumber Eye Gel Caulfield's Counter Product Review

40 Carrots Carrot + Cucumber Eye Gel

Overall Rating: ★★★☆☆
Price: $$ ($10-$20)
Scent: No noticeable scent.
I liked: the effectiveness of the gel as a moisturizer. Paraben free.
I didn’t like: the mild stinging sensation the gel caused around the eyelids.

I am still searching for an eye gel that I really like.  Time has taken a toll on the area around my eyes.  With each passing year the folds around them become more noticeable.  I’ve never looked more like an insomniac with my dark circles and puffy eyelids.  Who do I turn to?  What works?  On a whim, I decided to buy 40 Carrots Carrot +Cucumber Eye Gel from Amazon.  During the first few weeks of use, I experienced a mild stinging sensation – not something I was accustomed to.  The retinol in the product caused some slight discomfort, but the feeling disappeared two minutes after application.  As a moisturizer, 40 Carrots Eye Gel is effective.  However, I want an eye gel to “wake my eyes up.”  If I spend more than $10 for half an ounce of eye gel, I expect it to somewhat impress me.  Overall, I didn’t care much for the gel.  I didn’t notice any smoothing out of lines around my eyes nor did the dark circles get lighter.  I still haven’t found what that great eye gel I’m looking for.  Maybe I should start wearing sunglasses 24/7.
