I like: This is a mineral sunscreen. Effective in preventing sunburn. Stays on in water. Great for the entire family.
Not a fan of: the thick consistency, which makes it more difficult to apply and spread. In no way a deal-breaker considering this is a zinc oxide/titanium dioxide sunscreen.

If you’re looking for an effective, natural sunscreen for the entire family, Alba Botanica’s Very Emollient Mineral Sunscreen for Kids Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is an ideal product to start with. I consistently used this mineral (zinc oxide/titanium dioxide) sunscreen with great results during a recent Hawaiian vacation. While the Alba Botanica sunscreen is thick and takes a little more effort to apply, it will prevent you from getting sunburned if used properly and often. The product is unscented and gentle enough to use on the entire family. I usually apply a natural moisturizer five minutes before using this sunscreen. This way, my skin is properly nourished and protected from the Sun’s damaging effects.

I Like: how well the unscented moisturizer works on dry skin. Also provides UVA/UVB sun protection.
Not a fan of: the silicone (cyclomethicone) and plastic (polymethyl methacrylate) based ingredients.

Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 was my go-to face moisturizer for a number of years when I first got into skin care. The product is very basic, but effective for those with dry skin. It’s unscented, provides moderate sun protection, and moisturizes quite well. While this moisturizer is lightweight compared to other facial sunscreens I have used, it can leave some shine. I have combination skin and this product worked particularly well on the dry areas. While I didn’t experience breakouts using this moisturizer, I have heard of people with sensitive skin experiencing a slight stinging sensation when using it. If you’re looking for a fragrance-free face moisturizer with UVA/UVB sun protection, Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 is worth trying at least once. Who knows – maybe it will be your go-to face lotion for years to come.

I like: that this is a mineral sunscreen. Effective in preventing sunburn. Stays on while you swim.
Not a fan of: the very thick consistency – makes it a little harder to apply. May leave a white film on the skin. Great stuff nonetheless.

Alba Botanica’s Natural Very Emollient Mineral Sunblock SPF 30 is a fantastic alternative to the chemical sunscreens that are commonly found in drug stores. Mineral and chemical sunscreens differ in one major way. Mineral sunscreens provide a physical barrier of protection (usually consisting of zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide) between the skin and the sun. They block and deflect the Sun’s harmful rays. Chemical sunscreens, on the other hand, absorb Sun rays. This relatively natural, unscented product works quite well at preventing sunburn as long as you reapply after swimming or excessive sweating. The cream’s texture is thick, making it a little harder to spread, and can leave a white film. That’s the tradeoff of using a mineral sunblock. Nourishing ingredients in this product include grapeseed oil and jojoba oil. Try Alba Botanica’s Natural Very Emollient Mineral Sunblock SPF 30 if you’re thinking about making the switch from chemical sunscreens.

I Like: how the lotion is light and easily absorbed. Keeps the skin moisturized without that greasy feeling. Not tested on animals.
Not a fan of: the paraben preservatives.

Murad’s Face Defense SPF 15 lotion for men moisturizes well without leaving my skin feeling greasy, which is relatively rare for a sunscreen. The lotion absorbs quickly, almost immediately after applying. Its scent is hardly noticeable – those with a keen sense of smell might detect a hint of geranium. This lightweight facial sunscreen does not come cheap – a two-ounce tube lasting 1-2 months costs $33. If you have the disposable income to spend on an effective, non-greasy facial moisturizer with sunscreen, try using Murad Man Face Defense SPF 15. You just might like it.

I Like: the light texture, refreshing scent, and sun protection.
Not a fan of: the paraben preservatives.

Just because the weather is cooler doesn’t mean the sun’s UV rays aren’t as strong. It’s imperative that we apply a moisturizer with sun protection if we go out during the day. Anthony Logistics for Men’s Oil Free Facial Lotion SPF 15 is a great product for those with normal/combination to oily skin to use in such situations. Though the product claims to be fragrance free, I detected a slight citrus fragrance – it’s quite nice actually. It has a light texture. The lotion does a fine job at moisturizing and providing sun protection without leaving behind a heavy greasy film. If you have extremely oily skin, however, don’t expect this moisturizer to solve your shiny face issues.

L’Occitane’s Verdon for Men Outdoor Moisturizer SPF30 is a great face lotion for guys on the go. Its compact size and pump dispenser makes it easy to apply anytime, anywhere – it’s especially convenient for travelling. Despite the lotion’s light texture, a little goes a long way. The 1.7 fluid ounce tube should last you 2-3 months with typical use. I am not particularly fond of the strong the floral scent – it could use a little toning down. If you don’t mind floral fragrances, then L’Occitane’s Verdon for Men Outdoor Moisturizer SPF30 is definitely worth trying.

I Liked: the consistency – not too heavy, not too light. UVA/UVB protection. Effective at moisturizing.
I didn’t like: nothing. Though this SPF face moisturizer is priced on the higher side, it is worth every penny.

The Lab Series Skincare for Men Daily Moisture Defense Lotion SPF 15 is everything it claims to be. It effectively moisturizes without leaving your skin feeling greasy. As an added bonus, the lotion protects your face from the Sun’s UVA and UVB rays – ideal for keeping your skin looking youthful. Those with sensitive skin will appreciate that this protective moisturizer is fragrance free. It works on all skin types. You only need to apply a small amount, which makes the higher price tag justifiable.
