I liked: how natural it was – unlike antiperspirants, this product did not leave ugly, caked-on yellow underarm stains on my shirts. Great value – it lasts up to an entire year.
I didn’t like: how fragile it was – try not to drop it on a hard surface.
I used to hate it when my shirts would get those disgusting, caked-on yellow pit stains. That was when I relied heavily on antiperspirant deodorants to combat body odor – I would slather that stuff under my arms every day not knowing that it would end up ruining countless t-shirts and polos. Despite switching brands (I went from Degree to Arrid, then back to Degree) the stain problem persisted…until I discovered the Crystal Body Deodorant Stick. I initially had my doubts about using what is essentially a smooth salt rock to prevent body odor – how could it possibly work? Apparently, the crystal leaves a trace of natural mineral salts which remain on the skin and fight odor-causing bacteria. After using the crystal deodorant for a few months, I noticed my shirts no longer had the residue in the underarm area. More importantly, the crystal was effective in combating body odor. While there are rumors of risks associated with the use of antiperspirants (Alzheimer’s disease and breast cancer have been linked to its long-term use), you should try using the crystal not only because it is safer, but also because it is effective at fighting body odor without ruining shirts. The Crystal Body Deodorant Stick is legit.
How long does this stuff work before you start stinking like a dog again? My concern with something like this is that it stops working half-way through the day.
Another question I would have with something like this is how long the stick lasts.
Thoughts JD?
Good questions, DB. I’ll attempt to answer them. It takes some time for your body to adjust to the crystal – my underarms went through a withdrawal period after I got off the antiperspirants. This was not surprising considering my body had gotten used to the constant exposure to the sweat-preventing aluminum compounds. I suggest using the stone with a body spray or cologne applied to the pectorals near the underarms. This routine should help keep you stink-free throughout the day. However, if you choose to not use the body spray/cologne in conjunction with the stone, reapplications throughout the day may be necessary – which is why I purchased the smaller, more convenient 1.5 ounce size from Whole Foods. It’s compact, inexpensive, and will last for approximately one year. Good luck, DB. May your shirts be pit stain-less from now on.
I finally gave this a try and have been really impressed. I was definitely skeptical but it actually works. I even played a full round of golf in Palm Springs with nothing but a dose of this stuff in the pits and was still smelling fresh when we were done. Thanks for the tip Jerome!
Hey DB! Always glad to help. A full round? In Palm Springs?! Man, you really put the Crystal body deodorant to the test. It sure beats using that other stuff in a stick that stains your t-shirts.
